With the holidays coming up fast and the end of the year in sight, I just wanted to answer a question that I’ve received a lot lately: should I wait until the spring to list my home?
While it may benefit you to wait until spring to list your home on the market if you’re worried about holiday traffic in your home, listing during the holidays is a great option for those of you who are serious about getting your home sold quickly. Why is this?
1. Buyers are more serious in wintertime. Anybody who is braving the snow and cold of Utah winters is serious about getting into a house as soon as they can. They need to buy a home, and they’re out looking right now.
2. There is less inventory in the winter. Because so many home sellers like to wait until the spring to list their homes, inventory drops dramatically during the winter. This means that there are fewer listings for you to compete against, resulting in more traffic on your listing.
3. We’re in an election year. With the election now over and a new President coming in next year, there is a lot of uncertainty about the economy. There’s no telling how this uncertainty may affect the housing market next year, so now is a great time to list your home and take advantage of the current favorable economic conditions.
